Not to mention I don't think I'll have time for four different mods.Tiberius209https://www.blogger.com/profile/06479022857581915075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-1798362761374703362008-04-19T10:43:00.000-05:002008-04-19T10:43:00.000-05:00How about the PC being a Arthurian like figure, al...How about the PC being a Arthurian like figure, along with a Merlin type (maybe even THE Merlin, or some sort of 'Time-Agent' a la Torchwood/Dr Who) with each of the four important ages being visited in a series of "Chapters".

Each time England is threatened by disaster the PC, with the help of Merlin, appears to 'help' the situation along.Mungohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03442774819772990558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-23984582864653728102008-04-18T06:32:00.000-05:002008-04-18T06:32:00.000-05:00wyrin,Nothing is set in stone (regarding playing a...wyrin,

Nothing is set in stone (regarding playing as a Viking). I still have 6 months of work on TMGS (or more if my recent schedule is any indication). So there's plenty of time to refine the ideas.

I'm actually now thinking that Saxon, Dane, Celt, etc. need to be the new races (as opposed to Human, Elf, etc.), and the Viking class replaced with Berseker, Skald, and so forth. Or maybe Berserker needs to be a feat similar to the one for Barbarians now...

See, lots of things to flesh out once I have a setting.Tiberius209https://www.blogger.com/profile/06479022857581915075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-18953800042707602552008-04-18T02:54:00.000-05:002008-04-18T02:54:00.000-05:00my gut reaction was to go for the Vikings, as it's...my gut reaction was to go for the Vikings, as it's an era I love, and I like the Norse Pantheon, and some norse-specific classes e.g. beserkers and valkyries. But then on reading, we wouldn't get to be vikings :(
Still I like the period, and the approach (and I live in East Anglia too, so some of the places ring true to me)

That said, I do like the Plantagenet>Tudor timeperiod too, and a diplomacy/intrigue game set then could be really interetingWyrinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11584859518433388278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-84382607100578811062008-04-18T02:10:00.000-05:002008-04-18T02:10:00.000-05:00Then my vote is for the Vikings. Then my vote is for the Vikings.Chris Harrisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05523010158146508364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-33816821710945120492008-04-17T20:27:00.000-05:002008-04-17T20:27:00.000-05:00Chris,If there had been a fifth option, that would...Chris,

If there had been a fifth option, that would have been it. I seriously thought about it but ultimately declined because (1) the adventure hook I'm thinking of wouldn't work as well and so I'd have to rethink everything and (2) there's almost no reliable documentation on that period so the accuracy would suffer accordingly.

dirtywick,

Without any Egyptian or Roman tilesets or placeables, I would be reluctant to do that kind of thing. And, of course, I know enough about Egypt to be dangerous but not enough to be really accurate. I could do a better job with Rome or Greece, but neither is really my forte.

All,

And yes, story trumps historical accuracy when necessary, but this early on, I don't think either needs to be cut yet.Tiberius209https://www.blogger.com/profile/06479022857581915075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-7919581883108772202008-04-17T17:39:00.000-05:002008-04-17T17:39:00.000-05:00I think something with the Middle East or Egypt an...I think something with the Middle East or Egypt and Medieval Europe (or better yet the Roman Empire) would be cool.dirtywickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00307334417589189648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-50187136386648520032008-04-17T17:16:00.000-05:002008-04-17T17:16:00.000-05:00My vote would be for the age of Arthur with The Ro...My vote would be for the age of Arthur with The Romano-British kingdoms resisting the steady expansion of the Saxon kingdoms in the south east. The second asks what you definitely DON'T want.

But maybe there's been some confusion because something's a bit fishy. The first two votes on the first poll had 1 for Viking, 1 for 100 Years' and 2 for Wars of the Roses while neither voted in the second. The next three votes had two vote for the Normans in the 1st poll, indicating interest, and three vote for Normans in the second, indicating disinterest.

I guess it could be different people attracted to different polls, but the timing was very odd. If anyone did make a mistake, you can still change your votes.Tiberius209https://www.blogger.com/profile/06479022857581915075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6536839880948362362.post-29733157315737652902008-04-17T14:55:00.000-05:002008-04-17T14:55:00.000-05:00You have double polls for the same thing :) but...You have double polls for the same thing :) but i posted this one Bouncy rock!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
